I’m Dr. Paul Moffett, and I’m an expert
When I finished by PhD in medieval literature I had a feeling that I now had the research skills to become an expert in any topic. That feeling passed, but now I spend every episode of Halfway Expert trying my best to fake it.
For every episode I research a topic for a week to become a halfway expert, then try to explain that topic to a real expert, who corrects the misconceptions and misunderstandings I’ve picked up in my week of study.
On this episode of I talk to arctic climatologist Dr. Jennifer Francis. We talk about what climatology is and how it works, the arctic, the jetstream, climate change denial, and more!
On this episode of Halfway Expert I talk to hydrometeorologist Louise Arnal. We talk about what hydrology is and how it works, seasonal streamflow forecasting, floods, SciArt, and more!
On this episode of Halfway Expert I talk to archaeologist Stephanie Halmhofer. We talk about what archeology is and how it works, glass beads on the Northwest coast of British Columbia, bioarchaeology, pseudoarchaeology, and more!
This is the trailer for Halfway Expert, a new podcast from Dr. Paul Moffett.
Before each episode of Halfway Expert I study a given topic for exactly one week. Then I invite a real expert on the podcast and together we explain their topic while my expert guest corrects the misconceptions or misunderstandings I’ve picked up in my week of study.
